A Unichip X-Connect is a specialized wiring loom manufactured by Dastek. Typically, a performance engineer would wire the Unichip directly into your vehicle’s wiring system, a process that can be time-consuming and irreversible.

With a Unichip X-Connect, the Unichip is wired into a custom-designed wiring loom that is separate from the vehicle’s own wiring system. This loom is fitted with the same plugs as your vehicle’s electronic plugs, allowing for easy plugging into your vehicle’s wiring system during installation and removal at any time.

The fitment of a Unichip with a Unichip X-Connect is easy, reliable, fast, and can be removed at any time for servicing or vehicle replacement.

The power increase from your Unichip will vary based on the vehicle’s state of tune, type of engine, prevailing conditions, and fuel in your country. In some instances, peak power may only increase by a few percentage points on normally aspirated engines, while turbocharged vehicles may see a safe and effective extraction of 10-15% more power.

Dastek manufactures pre-fitted Unichip Easy Connect systems already fitted with a Unichip. However, you are free to purchase the Unichip and Unichip Easy Connect independently, requiring your performance specialist to wire the Unichip into the Unichip Easy Connect loom before fitting it to your vehicle.

No. The Unichip is fitted into pre-existing electronic plugs, intercepting electronic signals, changing them based on your desired performance setting, and sending them to various parts of the engine. No wires on your vehicle are cut or damaged when fitting a Unichip Easy Connect System.

Despite its safety and the absence of wire cutting in the vehicle’s wiring loom, the Unichip is not approved by vehicle manufacturers and may affect your vehicle’s warranty. Nevertheless, the Unichip Easy Connect system is easy to remove and reinstall by simply reconnecting it to your vehicle.

Unichip is a piggyback system THAT CAN BE INSTALLED ON ANY VEHICLE WITH AN ECU, meaning it does not permanently change or reprogram the inputs from your vehicle’s electronic control unit (ECU). The system intercepts signals, changes them as required, and sends them to various engine components.

If your Unichip has been fitted directly onto the vehicle, it is hardwired to the wiring harness. If you have opted for a Unichip Easy Connect, you can plug it in and remove it as needed, such as during a service or vehicle replacement.

There are many reasons to opt for a Unichip and Unichip Easy Connect. Most importantly, the Unichip is a fully reprogrammable computer that considers virtually every engine signal.

Unlike many performance chips that only increase fuel pressure, boost, and throttle input, the Unichip monitors engine temperature, adjusts inputs for different driving needs, measures over-fueling and the fuel-air mixture, delivering safe power.

In contrast, a Unichip considers everything happening in the engine while driving, allowing the performance upgrade specialist to safely and reliably extract more power. A Unichip behaves differently when driving with a cold engine than when cruising on the highway, managing fuel pressure under load and without load to prevent over-fueling and overheating.

You can add different performance maps onto one Unichip (depending on the model). New Unichip systems offer standard, safety, high-performance, and, on some vehicles, technical off-road maps.

With a Unichip Easy Connect system, you simply plug the Unichip into your vehicle, and you are ready to go. Note that high-performance fitment centers may require your vehicle to be tested on the dynamometer for optimal performance, leading to a short wait depending on your chosen dealership.

Reprogramming the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit can be tricky, and you may lose the ability to revert to standard settings if something goes wrong. ECU reprogramming also requires a great deal of time and, like simple performance chips on competitor vehicles, may not always consider high-risk factors, such as vehicle temperature and fuel mixture, or allow for different settings for various uses.
