THE UNICHIP X IS A PIGGYBACK SYSTEM THAT CAN BE INSTALLED ON ANY VEHICLE WITH AN ECU

What this means is that the Unichip does not permanently change or reprogram the inputs from your vehicle’s electronic control unit (ECU). The system simply intercepts the signals, changes them as required and sends them to the various engine components.

We don’t make any claims with the Unichip about how much better any car will be after fitting it. We let the results speak for themselves. Because no two cars are identical it is impossible to predict just how far from perfect the vehicle will be before fitting the Unichip. Some cars are closer than others and therefore the results will vary. On some cars you may get better fuel consumption but maybe not much more power. On others the increase in power might be good but the fuel consumption might remain the same. Some might get a lot of improvement in drivability. In most cases you should be able to improve all of the above. It all depends on how close to perfect the car’s existing map is for that particular vehicle.

BETTER FUEL ECONOMY

In light of our ever-increasing fuel prices, achieving better fuel economy has become a priority for most people, but they do not always know how to do it. Short of the oft-preached mantra of driving more slowly, what else can one do to improve the fuel economy of one’s vehicle, if at all?

FACTORY STANDARD

Reprogramming the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit can be dangerous and you may lose the ability to revert to the standard settings if something goes wrong. If you have opted for a Unichip Easy Connect, you can plug it in and remove it as you wish, such as when you take your vehicle for a service or replace your vehicle.

 

MAX SAFE POWER

Many performance chips simply increase the fuel pressure, boost and throttle input. The feeling of power is great, but there is nothing that monitors engine temperature, changes inputs for different driving needs, measures over-fuelling and the fuel-air mixture or the many other elements that are required to deliver safe power.

 

 

TOWING & 4X4

Getting the most power from your engine does not always help when you are driving in a technical off-road section where good throttle response is more important than pure engine power.

For these conditions, you can select an off road setting on your Unichip that gives you more low-down power. This is also an ideal setting if you are towing a large caravan or boat, or towing someone who does not have the power of a Unichip from the mud or water.

 

 

ANTI-THEFT

Select and lock the vehicle in this setting when you park and are worried about the safety of the vehicle. In this mode the engine is rendered completely powerless and it will not deliver any power to the wheels. Your engine will merely turn, but nothing will happen.

 

ROAD SPEED LIMITING

Road-speed signals are normally digital signals generated by the speed sensor in the transmission. They can also be inductive signals, or sometimes the ABS system will send road-speed information over the CAN bus to the ECU. The ECU uses the speed signal to calculate road speed and automatic transmission shift points. You can use the Unichip to manipulate the road-speed signal in order to remove road-speed limiter.

Tuning a vehicle is not fitting white speedometer dials, wings, skirts or even different camshafts or exhausts!

Tuning is simply adjusting the three things an engine works with to be at the best possible combinations for all conditions. Unfortunately, the true meaning of the word has been confused in the past few years with events like the SEMA Tuning show and our favourite TV persona Chip Foose, we at Unichip are avid viewers of Overhaulin where they rush around to get done with their latest and greatest project so that they will be in time for the SEMA Tuning show.

There is only one key item missing in the mix of emotions and camers: there is no dynamometer and no measurement equipment around to optimally tune the engines in those newly rebuild beauties. Any ordinary internal combustion engine works with three things only. For it to run properly it needs fuel, ignition and compressed air. It needs nothing else! Any problem that you will ever have with tuning an engine will be one of these three things that isn’t there, isn’t the right amount, isn’t there at the right time, isn’t mixed well enough or is mixed with something else (like water.) If these three things are there in the right amount at the right time, properly mixed and undiluted (not mixed with something else) it will create a proper power stroke.

This is where the Unichip plays a pivotal role, to optimally tune your vehicle’s engine.
